Discover The Recipe

Crispy outside and tender inside, our Jerk Cauliflower “Wings” are like a firecracker of flavor in every bite. Perfect as an appetizer or a side dish these will become your go-to dish for any occasion.  Seasoned with Piquant Post Jamaican Jerk spice, these cauliflower bites provide tons of flavor with a satisfying bite. We developed our Jamaican Jerk blend with all the authentic and essential Jerk spices including the native Caribbean Allspice berry, Sweet Paprika, Thyme, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Ginger, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, and Cayenne.  Traditionally made fiery hot with Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers, we offer Scotch Bonnet pepper flakes for sale separately for you to customize the heat to your taste. The culinary term "Jerk" refers to a style of cooking native to Jamaica and includes using a dry spice rub or a wet marinade on a piece of meat that is grilled or smoked. Renowned the world over, Jerk seasoning lends layers of flavor to whatever you use it on. Below we include instructions for using an air fryer that provides all the crunch in a healthier version.

Ingredients

  • Jerk Cauliflower Wings

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut in florets

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp Piquant Post Jerk Seasoning

  • 3/4 cup water

  • Jerk Sauce

  • 1 onion, peeled

  • 3 scallions

  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp Piquant Post Scotch Bonnet Pepper flakes (optional), or use 1-2 jalapeños

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp oil

  • 2 tsp Piquant Post Jamaican Jerk

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • Juice of 1 lime

Notes

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the cauliflower on a parchment lined sheet pan in your oven for 20 mins at 450°F.

To make these gluten-free, use an all purpose gluten free flour mix instead of the wheat flour!

Air frying is a great way to get a fired texture with much less oil! For an even crispier texture, we recommend misting the cauliflower with an oil spray halfway through the cooking time.

Scotch Bonnet Peppers are very spicy! If you are sensitive to heat, you can skip them altogether in the Jerk sauce.

Instructions

To make the cauliflower wings, cut the head of cauliflower into florets and set aside. Whisk together the flour, salt and pepper, Piquant Post Jerk Seasoning, and water until smooth. Dip the cauliflower florets into the flour mixture until well coated all over.

Spray some oil onto an air fryer tray and add the coated cauliflower florets. Air fry at 375°F for 12-15 minutes until the cauliflower is golden and crispy on the outside, and completely cooked on the inside.

To make the Jerk Sauce, add all the sauce ingredients to a food processor and pulse until a chunky but even texture is achieved.

Serve the cauliflower wings with the jerk sauce on the side and garnish with sliced green onion.
