Tacos have become an internationally-loved culinary export of Mexico. Although ground beef tacos are an Americanized version of the Mexican staple, you'll find that our Taco Elixir spice blend provides bold flavors to make the perfect beef tacos, or use an alternative like ground turkey, chicken breast, or squash in your taco filling. The best part is that we achieve maximize flavor without all the salt, chemicals, and preservatives of supermarket taco seasoning packets.

Mexican-style tacos are traditionally served on small, double-wrapped corn tortillas and may feature fish, chicken, pork, carne asada (steak), or vegetables. Topped with a pinch of diced onions, fresh herbs, and a savory or spicy sauce, tacos are the perfect vehicle to deliver a quick and satisfying bite. Using traditional spices as inspiration, we've developed a blend that delivers authentic Mexican flavors to satisfy any Taco Tuesday craving. Try our Taco Elixir blend on meats, fish, chili, soups, or grilled meat wherever you want to add robust Mexican flavor.

  • 1 lb of lean ground beef (or ground turkey)

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 white onion, diced

  • 1/2 cup of low-salt beef or vegetable broth

  • 2 Tbsp Piquant Post Taco Elixir spice blend

  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 3-4 oz cheddar or jack cheese, shredded

  • 2-3 leaves of Romaine lettuce, shredded

  • salt & pepper to taste

  • 12 small soft corn tortillas

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped

  • 1/2 medium red onion, diced

  • 2 green onions, white and green parts, sliced

  • 1 Serrano chile, minced (jalapeño if you desire heat)

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1 handful of cilantro, chopped

Our Taco Elixir Spice blend has a little bit of heat in it from cayenne pepper. Use a little less of the spice if you're very sensitive to spicy heat.

Once the taco filling is done cooking, cover your tortillas with a wet paper towel and microwave for 30 secs to warm.

Tacos are meant to be a canvas to add filings of your desire. We like pickled jalapenos and red onions, chopped canned green chiles, shredded romaine, and even chopped, par-boiled baby carrots.

If you prefer hard taco shells, fill your shells with cooked taco meat and bake them in the oven for 7-10 mins at 350 deg to give them the perfect crunch.

Optional ingredients add a little character and flavor but don’t sweat it if you don’t have them.

Prepare the pico de gallo salsa by chopping and mixing pico de gallo ingredients in a mixing bowl. Place in fridge until tacos are ready to serve. Chop fresh ingredients for taco meat.

Heat large saucepan on Med-High heat. Drizzle oil into pan. When shimmering, add onion and sauté ~5 mins until golden brown. Add the meat, garlic and Taco Elixir spice blend to the onions, stirring occasionally for ~5 mins to break apart meat until meat begins to brown.

Add broth to pan and stir to thoroughly mix the meat. Bring to a simmer then lower heat to Med. Cook uncovered for ~5mins until meat absorbs most of the broth. You can warm the tortillas by covering with a damp paper towl and microwaving for ~30 secs.

Serve the tacos by filling each tortilla with 1/4 cup of meat and topping with pico de gallo and your favorite taco toppings like shredded cheese, lettuce, sour cream, pickled jalapeños, etc.
