Discover The Recipe

Lamb is a staple protein in much of the Middle East, Mediterranean, and North Africa. This Nigella Lamb Chops recipe features our Sweet Nigella blend, which showcases nigella seeds, also known as black cumin, which have a unique and intriguing flavor profile that adds depth and complexity to any dish. These tiny, black seeds have a nutty and slightly bitter taste with hints of pepper and onion. They possess a distinct aroma, reminiscent of oregano or toasted sesame. When used in cooking, nigella seeds provide a delightful pop of flavor that enhances a variety of dishes. We crafted Sweet Nigella blend to combine nigella seeds with complementary spices to create a balanced flavor profile, incorporating elements of sweetness, warmth, and gentle heat.

Our chefs create an explosion of flavors as you marinate the lamb chops in olive oil, soy sauce, and the Sweet Nigella blend. The salty-umami flavor from the soy sauce is paired with aromatic spices to develop an unforgettable flavor. Heat up a pan with butter, to create a perfect sear on lamb chops. The high heat creates a caramelized crust that locks in the juicy tenderness of the meat. For an extra touch of fragrant elegance, garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs. Use Sweet nigella blend on savory soups, meats, fish, and even pizzas and breads.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb chops

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 4 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Piquant Post Sweet Nigella blend

  • 2 Tbsp butter or vegetable oil

  • Rosemary, for garnish (optional)

Notes

To know if the cast iron is hot and ready for the meat,  flick a few drops of water onto the pan and if it sizzles, it is ready.

Optional ingredients add a little character and flavor but don’t sweat it if you don’t have them.

Instructions

In a gallon size plastic bag, combine lamb chops, olive oil, soy sauce, and Piquant Post Sweet Nigella.

Toss to coat the lamb chops well. Marinate for 30 minutes.

Heat a large cast iron skillet or with butter (or oil) over Med-High heat. When skillet is hot, add lamb chops. Sear 3-4 minutes, flip, and sear another 3-4 minutes on the opposite side, or until desired doneness.

Remove from heat. Garnish with rosemary.
