Ingredients

  • Memphis BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders:

  • 5 lbs pork shoulder, bone in

  • 1.5 Tbsp Kosher salt

  • 2 Tbsp Piquant Post Memphis BBQ

  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar

  • 4 cloves garlic, diced

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce

  • 16 Hawaiian style rolls or small buns

  • Apple Cider Vinegar Slaw:

  • ½ head purple cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 3 carrots, shredded

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbsp cilantro, minced

  • ½ cup mayo

  • 1 tsp dijon mustard

  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp pepper

Notes

We like to use a bone-in meat cut to get the most flavor. If you only have boneless pork shoulder, it works fine and will still be delicious!

We recommend seasoning the meat and making the marinade the night before. In the morning, simply add both to the slow cooker for easy cooking.

We also recommend making and refrigerating the slaw a few hours ahead of serving time. This allows the flavors to meld and to yield a crisp bite.

Optional ingredients add a little character and flavor but don’t sweat it if you don’t have them.

Instructions

Combine Kosher salt, Piquant Post Memphis BBQ and brown sugar. Season the pork shoulder by massaging in the spice mixture. (For optimal flavor, season the night before.) Combine the garlic, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, and worcestershire sauce in a small bowl.

Place the seasoned meat and chicken broth mixture in a slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-6 hours, or low for 6-8 hours.

For the slaw, combine the purple cabbage, carrots, garlic, cilantro, mayo, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper. Toss well and refrigerate.

When the pork is finished cooking, remove from the crock pot onto a cutting board. Shred meat with 2 forks. Transfer to a serving bowl, add back some of the juices from the slow cooker. Serve with Hawaiian buns and topped with slaw.
